The papers in this collection cover an unusually wide variety of topics for an ordinary Festschrift, from phonetics through all major branches of theoretical linguistics, theoretical and applied computational/mathematical linguistics to logic.
The abundance of topics addressed in the contributions reflects the unusually wide range of interests of the two exceptional scholars, László Kálmán and András Kornai, to whom this volume is offered as a sign of appreciation by their colleagues and students for their 60th birthdays.
For supporting the production of the Festschrift and the organization of the accompanying workshop we would like to express our gratitude to the Research Institute of Linguistics, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, particularly to Veronika Lipp, Gábor Prószéky, Ágnes Talián, and Tamás Váradi, and to Péter Szigetvári and Uwe D. Reichel for helping us with technical issues of the Festschrift.
The papers in this collection were reviewed by the following colleagues, whose help is gratefully acknowledged: Zoltán Bánréti, Tibor Beke, Tamás Biró, Michael Bukatin, Sean Fulop, Zoltán Gendler Szabó, Thomas Graf, István Kenesei, Angelika Kiss, Kimmo Koskenniemi, Marcus Kracht, Cecília Sarolta Molnár, Zoltán Molnár, Dávid Nemeskey, Péter Rebrus, Eszter Simon, István Szakadát, Paul Thompson, Dániel Varga, Dániel Vásárhelyi, Anssi Yli-Jyrä, Richard Zach, Zsófia Zvolenszky, and Richard Zuber.
Happy birthday, András! Happy birthday, László/Kálmán!
